1. What do you see as your primary work at this stage of your life?

I work in social and systems innovation, supporting individuals, groups of people and organisations to build capacity for thinking differently about the wider context their operating in, and navigate the challenges and opportunities they face. I'm former Innovation and Change manager at the RSA (Royal Society of Arts), now taking a short break from work for independent learning and exploration!

2. What role do you see as yours to play?

I see myself as a systems convener and connector, drawing together different perspectives across scales and time horizons to work on knotty social challenges alongside others.

3. What goals or aims do you have in regard to the above?

Increasingly I see that social challenges are deeply entwined with ecological challenges and that I really need to embed regenerative thinking into my practice. My aims are to work on myself and the relationship I have with place, people and my wider environment to better support my work and how I behave/interact in the world.

4. Where do you feel your next arenas for personal growth are?

I'd like to better manage some of the anxiety I feel in work that is often deeply entwined with my identity. I'd also like to tackle what it means to always be productive and progressing - Whilst much of my work gives me energy, it can equally be exhausting and lead to burn out.

5. And for professional growth?

I'd like to be more confident weaving regenerative thinking into my current practice, to understand how it might compliment or change the theory/practice I use in my day to day work. I'd like to test this out with individuals, teams, organisations and communities I work with.

6. What have you invested in to get you where you are?

My learning: I'm a lifelong learner and I spend time exploring theory and practice that support how change happens.

My relationships: My friends and family are important to me. There is always more I can do to be a good friend, but I also invest in being a good friend by creating a safe welcoming home friends can come to to retreat.

My work: I'm committed to my work, it gives me purpose and I love to learn form the brilliant people I've been lucky enough to work with.

7. What fields of learning and which thinkers have been important in your life?

Complexity Thinking: Pattern spotting, sense making and decision making in complexity (informed by Cognitive Edge and Human Systems Dynamics Institute)

Long term and futures thinking: Casting ahead and using participatory processes to understand some of the possible impacts of big drivers of change and how we might work towards better futures.

Collaborative Practices: I've been involved in Prosocial World for a while, exploring how we build cooperative and collaborative group behaviours, drawing from evolutionary science and behavioural psychology.

8. Can you frame your philosophy or cosmology of life? What role(s) do humans play in it?

I believe we live in a complex and interconnected world. We cannot control outcomes, but we can influence relationships and interactions. I'd like to think that as humans we should and can work better with each other and with the wide ecology we are a part of for greater harmony and for greater flourishing. I think our role is to be aware of the patterns of change, and to can use the assess that make us uniquely human (like symbolic thought) to navigate complexity and to imagine and work towards better futures.
