1. What do you see as your primary work at this stage of your life?

I see my primary work as helping others to see the interconnectedness of our existence, helping others to see other perspectives and develop the capability and capacity to act with empathy when designing projects. I work in local government and find my daily work is quite focused on building, sustaining and connecting communities together to keep us moving forward.

2. What role do you see as yours to play?

I find that the insights I contribute and the questions that I ask of others spark deep introspection and reflection, inviting others to look at a problem differently and come up with a different, more human-centered approach. I also see my role as a bridge-builder, making connections that are not so apparent to others and helping to illuminate them.

3. What goals or aims do you have in regard to the above?

I aim to lead by example, but also seek to help build others' capacity for seeing things the way I do. It is not in our collective interest to be gate-keepers of information or creative thinking, and I believe that everyone has the capability to stretch their minds towards regenerative thinking. I also hope to be humbled by others and continually nudged to try different approaches that are not visible to me.

4. Where do you feel your next arenas for personal growth are?

I'm working on being more open and forthcoming; I tend to withhold in spaces that are new and unfamiliar. I'm also working on being guided by curiosity and not fear.

5. And for professional growth?

I could stretch into taking leadership roles where I get to do more visionary and exploratory work. This could be in leading a collective visioning approach to a local, sustainable food system, or at least a part of it.

6. What have you invested in to get you where you are?

I've built deep roots in my community, serving as a civil servant for the County in which I was born and raised for nearly a decade.

7. What fields of learning and which thinkers have been important in your life?

Sociology, Activist & Scholar Dr. Vandana Shiva, cognitive behavioral therapy, regenerative thinking, Filmmaker & Professor Dr. Kum-Kum Bhavnani, The Social Change Map by Deepa Viyer.

8. Can you frame your philosophy or cosmology of life? What role(s) do humans play in it?

We are temporary visitors of this planet, our role as humans is to be stewards of the Earth. Many of us have lost our way and had our ancestral bonds to the land broken, but we can help each other remember how to connect to all living things and exist symbiotically.
