1. What do you see as your primary work at this stage of your life?

Developing my level of being, breaking free of attachments to identities and unconscious ways of thinking/acting, learning to express my essence more fully, transcending the role of simply providing for my family into more strategic work that has a greater impact on the living systems in which I'm nested. My professional work is focused on my consulting and coaching business in the Organizational Learning & Development space, where my aim is to help bring regenerative thinking into the field.

2. What role do you see as yours to play?

I would describe my core process as developing wisdom and intelligence and I aim to bring this essence more fully into the world. I see my primary role as an educator, as someone who creates transformative learning experiences for others.

3. What goals or aims do you have in regard to the above?

In my professional work, my aim is to help organizations evolve their capacity for continuous learning and strategic growth. My goal is to continue developing my capability as a resource (or what I call my business a Capability Coach). I am focused on learning how to more effectively disrupt existing patterns and facilitate the emergence of new ways of thinking, acting, and seeing the world. I am also aiming to step more fully into a resourcing role as a father of 2, a husband, brother, son, friend, community member, etc.

4. Where do you feel your next arenas for personal growth are?

Becoming more whole and balanced as a living system myself, developing more holistic intelligence and wisdom. I have a tendency to be centered in my head and I'm working to cultivate more of a balance with my heart and lower centers. It is a daily practice of trying to become conscious of the state of these centers and how they are working together. I am making some progress but am in many ways at the beginning of this journey.

5. And for professional growth?

Transitioning out of some of the consulting working I've been doing for many years and more fully into Capability Coaching - both serving as a coach myself and educating coaches. I have made some progress in this arena in the last year or so, but I still have a lot to learn and a lot of developmental work to do. The personal growth described above is central to my ability to grow in this direction professionally.

6. What have you invested in to get you where you are?

I discovered permaculture while volunteering on a farm in Patagonia in 2009. Since then, I've invested quite a lot in developing myself in the direction I find myself in now. In brief, I dove into self study for several years before attending a Permaculture Design Course in 2013 where I was turned on to Gaia University. I enrolled at Gaia U that same year in their 2-year Permaculture Diploma program. During this time I was developing a farm in central Chile and started putting things I was learning into practice. I was also teaching English at this time and decided to continue on at Gaia U with a master's in Organizational Development and Transition Design. Within this experience I developed a strategic vision for my career, to bring regenerative thinking into the Learning & Development field where I felt (and feel now more than ever) that there is great potential for it to take hold and create an impact. I started my own business as an independent L&D consultant in 2015 and have worked in numerous projects with many different organizations/industries/roles. The majority of these projects have not been regenerative in the least, but I have managed to build up my business over time and gain the experience I need to step into more strategic roles and be more selective about the clients and projects I take on, as well as the roles I step into.

7. What fields of learning and which thinkers have been important in your life?

To name a few: Fritjof Capra, Carol Sanford, Bill Mollison, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Ken Wilber, Aldous Huxley, Thanisarro Bhikku, Dave Snowden, Andrew Langford, George Gurjieff, Peter Ouspensky, Ben Haggard, Pamela Mang, Bill Reed, Gregory Bateson, Nora Bateson, Daniel Schmachtenberger, William Blake, Ken Wilber, others I am surely forgetting...

8. Can you frame your philosophy or cosmology of life? What role(s) do humans play in it?

My philosophy as it stands is that human beings are a keystone species on Earth, where organic life as a whole plays an important role in the development of the cosmos. I don't know exactly what that role is but I believe that is true. Perhaps it is the evolution of consciousness toward some form of cosmic self-realization, or part of a process of something larger than we can understand generating self-knowledge. I am comfortable living in the mystery of this question, but in practical terms I believe that life has an inherent evolutionary purpose and that it is our core work as human beings to protect life and help it flourish.
