1. What do you see as your primary work at this stage of your life?

I would like to apply regenerative development to the design of a young adult education program where I live. I recently completed a PhD in Sustainability Education through Prescott College that explored these concepts and I am interested in this course to deepen my understanding of the RDD principles and how they might apply to self, project teams, the actualization of an education program that is meant to teach sustainability education and RDD to participants who would then engage in local RDD projects with area organizations based on the needs of the local socio-ecological system.

2. What role do you see as yours to play?

To learn more about RDD and bring these concepts to a design team in Durango, CO and facilitate the development of the young adult education program.

3. What goals or aims do you have in regard to the above?

I want to become more knowledgeable in the content related to RDD, how the material is presented through this course, the facilitation of these concepts, and the lived experience of working with a team around a real project.

4. Where do you feel your next arenas for personal growth are?

I am looking to continue to further evolve my systems thinking skills and to be able to continuously hold a relational worldview. I also want to be able to redesign my thinking process and communication to be more in line with the regenerative work I want to do in the world.

5. And for professional growth?

I have established an LLC in Durango, CO and I would like to be able to work with a team on designing a regenerative education program and then launching that program sometime in the next year or two.

6. What have you invested in to get you where you are?

I have a wide range of outdoor program administration and teaching experience. I also recently completed a PhD (this took me 6 years with a wife and two kids!). Now I am looking to weave these life experiences into the actualization of a program that is designed to help participants spend time in nature, develop ecological consciousness, learn about systems thinking, sustainability education, and regenerative development and design and then apply these concepts through local regenerative development and design projects through partnerships with local organizations that address social and ecological needs.

7. What fields of learning and which thinkers have been important in your life?

Ecopsychology, systems thinking, permaculture, regenerative development and design, transformative learning, ecoliteracy, place-based education, socio-ecological systems, social and ecological justice, nature based human development.

Fritjof Capra, Bill Plotkin, Joanna Macy, Michael J. Meade, David Sobel, David Abram, Theodore Roszak, Edmund O'sullivan, Marilyn Taylor, Victor Nolet, David Holmgren, Donella Meadows, Gregory Cajete

8. Can you frame your philosophy or cosmology of life? What role(s) do humans play in it?

Humans participate in and are composed of various converging living and non living macro and micro systems. The dominant Western perspective is that we are somehow separate from these systems. I believe that to contribute to more sustainable/regenerative systems there is a need to remember that we are a node within these systems and act accordingly.
