Your NameMarceau Guérin
Cohort AssignmentCohort A (Europe, MENA and South America)
1. What do you see as your primary work at this stage of your life?

I am working in the field of making cities more sustainable and resilient. More specifically, recently I have been advising urbanists and developpers when it comes to bringing more nature/vegetation in their urban projects. Some would say I fall under the conceptual umbrella of Nature Based Solutions (applied to cities).

2. What role do you see as yours to play?

It is still something I am trying to figure out. I think I have a role to play with initiation of projects and their governance, two things I have been doing in the last years. I have noticed that I can give the best of myself when I can bring my domains of expertise within a human adventure. Another role I have been playing is to create bridges between the academic world and more private/public initiatives. My earth sciences background and my enthusiasm for transmission makes it really enjoyable for me to share my expertise.

3. What goals or aims do you have in regard to the above?

My goal is to find myself in the next few months, years, in a adventure (NGO, company, land project) that participates in the regeneration of the Earth where I can use my talents and express myself. I could join an existing adventure or create one with others. I am open and ready.

6. What have you invested in to get you where you are?

I have invested my time, my energy and my love. I have also given some of my health to handle the weight my family system left me. I have invested money into therapy and money into taking a side path from the one that was expected from my education.

4. Where do you feel your next arenas for personal growth are?

I think my next arenas are to really connect, acknowledge and develop my zone of talents. I think paternity is going to be part of this growing process.

7. What fields of learning and which thinkers have been important in your life?

I love to learn. I made space to learn about science, therapy, sociology, politics, war, theater. Reading, I have enjoyed : Henry David Thoreau, Edward O. Wilson, George Monbiot, Paul Kingsnorth, Naomi Klein, Charles Eisenstein.

5. And for professional growth?

I have long been a researcher. I have an easy access to dreaming. It is easy for me to see the horizon. Now I want to meet the entrepreneur energy, the next-step mindset.

8. Can you frame your philosophy or cosmology of life? What role(s) do humans play in it?

I think I am invited to honor my emotions and to learn how to live with myself and my species (humans). Each year I can navigate this with more peace, grounding and laugh, it is a big reward.
