1. What do you see as your primary work at this stage of your life?

Primary work: Systems convening. Creating safe spaces to enable new forms of collaboration and potentially systemic changes. This is something I am trying to do through my grassroot organising work here in London and also something I am trying to create in my paid work. Question around; how to build collective power/ collective movement for change. how to centre unheard voices and perspectives.

also, a big question I am grappling with since quite a long time - how to navigate the connections between the inner, outer and systemic transformation ..

2. What role do you see as yours to play?

I am working towards that Systems convener role. Trying to develop my facilitation skills. Already developing this in my work but feeling that I still have a long way to go 🙂

3. What goals or aims do you have in regard to the above?

One of my goals is to bring creative experimentation in how we convene; through arts, poetry, food, music, crafts... I am trying to make grassroots organising a playful and creative space where people feel confident to collectively participate … and (Insha'Allah) create bold and ambitious change in their lives and communities.

One of my grassroot organising project at the moment is the "Party with purpose" where people come and co-create a space to educate themselves and others around one topic (Energy, Debt justice,..) but also to have fun together, be creative, meet new people,... create some performances or arts that are talking to people in more sensitive way.

4. Where do you feel your next arenas for personal growth are?

I am still at the very beginning of the journey I described above. I would love to be more confident to facilitate more groups. would like to develop this and TRP is already helping me to do so with the external locus of control and other tools.

Still really grappling with the link between inner and systemic transformation. As much as I feel the need for inner transformation, (and practice it since quite a bit of time) my grassroot organising work always remind me the urgency of the change needed for the people/community around me. I am just very aware that this inner/deeper work is not accessible to everyone and very far away from the problems that most of the people are facing today. My organising work involve working with a lot of pour workers (especially single moms) who are not in capacity to buy food for their children.

Although I deeply know that this sense of urgency and the fire fighting mode lead to re-creating toxic patterns. I am constantly navigating this tension.

5. And for professional growth?

My professional and personal ambitions are very interlinked. I am trying to align those personal and professional aspects with my deeper purpose; Why the hell am I here?.

I am at the moment focusing on developing a new model of System convening at the intersection between Capacity building in Systems change and creating new collaborations.

The idea is to convene a wide range of different actors within one specific system (Health, Finance and Energy for example). Giving some training/course in Systems Change but also creating safe spaces for people in the sector to come together and invent new collaborations/projects aiming for systemic change.

that require really good facilitation skills, a capacity to navigate and hold multiple/ complex issues, and tensions, a capacity to convene, to host .. to develop my external considering, my internal locus of control, my capacity to self observe and to create vitalizing energy field ... still a lot to learn 🙂

6. What have you invested in to get you where you are?

changing country, career choices, jobs, ... investing my personal saving to NOT work for some months and finally have the time to think and reflect and spend more time on grassroot organising and political campaigning.

I spent quite a lot of my energy reconnecting with myself and my purpose. and deeply think about how do I connect the dots. how can I align and create more balance, equanimity and calm in a chaotic self and world.

7. What fields of learning and which thinkers have been important in your life?

the most important of all - My wall of fame 🙂

- Politic - basically everything that Angela Davis or Audre Lorde have written
- bell hooks - with whom I learned how to love myself and to love others
- sociology with Bourdieu and Philosophie/sociology with Foucault; because they helped me so much to understand the systems dynamics we are living in/the institutions/ the domination...
- at the intersection between philosophy and Economy - Marx (simply because he wrote the most brilliant pages about the economic system we are still living in - he connected the dots studying the economic system with a philosophical lens... And because I am always amazed to see how many authors are really trying hard and at the end ... just re-writing a cheap version of what Marx wrote 150 years ago )

8. Can you frame your philosophy or cosmology of life? What role(s) do humans play in it?

My philosophy is deeply political, in the sense of ... I take accountability for being a part of a bigger society and commit to change this society. My philosophy is about centring, life, love, respect, equity .. it's about fighting for justice and (somehow) trying to find peace ...

I can say that I live my life with a strong ethic of love. I centre love in my choices of life, work, relationship. I commit, care, listen, sense, .. always trying to develop my attention and care of the group, the whole, the community.

I define my existence as deeply relational, I am with and because of others.
