Working Title of The Project (which we will use to refer to it throughout the series) | Whina Feature Film |
Project Location | Auckland/North |
Nature of The Project (e.g. building, new community, economic development, etc.) | NZ Feature film Biography |
Why do you think this project is appropriate for the course assignment? | A retelling of Dame Whina Coopers life, who lived through the 1900's and is famous for her protest at 80(ish) years old when she walked from Te Hapua to Wellington Parliament to protest the stealing of land. During the production and process of the film - which was opening and going into all these things - The recreation of the events and the process in itself felt very apathetic to the core topic of the film/her life which was the land and the topic of colonial dispossession of Maori land, the activation of the degeneration of big masses of whenua. |
Additional Useful Information | During my internship on the film, I viewed the production as a multi-faceted time/realm machine. |
