Working Title of The Project (which we will use to refer to it throughout the series)

Zoöp – for more life

Project Location

The Netherlands

Nature of The Project (e.g. building, new community, economic development, etc.)

Zoöp is an organisation model for cooperation between human and other-than-human life that safeguards the interests of all life.

Zoöp is a governance model in combination with a learning process. A Zoöp makes the interests of other-than-human life part of organisational decision making, by installing a so-called Speaker for the Living as advisor, teacher and board observer in the organisation.

The Zoöp model was developed at Het Nieuwe Instituut, in a public research process in several stages, by a large group of legal experts, ecologists, artists, designers, entrepreneurs and philosophers.

Why do you think this project is appropriate for the course assignment?

This project already has a strong regenerative approach at its core. We would like to explore it even further and look at the implementation of Zoop approach in practice, any challenges and success factors as well. Furthermore, we would like to unpack even deeper potential of the Zoop approach.
Zoop approach was implemented by Het Nieuwe Insituut in Rotterdam and this could be a scenario we could explore (still TBC).
