Why do you think this project is appropriate for the course assignment? | Bâtiment 7 is an industrial heritage building, a fragment of the popular history of the Pointe-Saint-Charles district of Montreal Qc, converted into an accessible alternative gathering place teeming with projects. We find this project suitable for our course assignment as it aligns with our group's familiarity with the area and offers valuable socio-ecological insights. Originally a neglected and contaminated site, it underwent transformation after being acquired by a profit-driven company aiming to develop residential properties in an economically disadvantaged neighborhood. However, local residents sought a cooperative approach to utilize the land sustainably for community benefit. We are in contact with the architect who oversaw the building's restoration and to the manager of an existing farm. These both could be a link to meet neighbors involved from the beginning. |
