Nature conservation program in Alentejo:
The Sustainable Castro Verde Program (SCVP), developed by LPN since 1993, began with the Project "Conservation of the Castro Verde Steppe Bird Fauna", co-funded by a LIFE-Nature Program of the European Union for Nature Conservation (1993 to 1999). The Sustainable Castro Verde Program aims to promote the conservation of steppe birds of the Campo Branco region and their habitat, and has different links with local farmers and community, and promotes eco-tourism such as bird watching and photography.
Why do you think this project is appropriate for the course assignment?
We chose this project because it has a clear place that we can visit, because it has a link to nature and because we want to contribute to LPN with our learnings and feedback, since it's part of the community of Nova SBE. None of us know the project well and we believe we can combine our different views in understanding this project. Also there is availability by the people who started the project to be interviewd and visited.
