Working Title of The Project (which we will use to refer to it throughout the series)

Design, Process and Communication - Reconnecting and Healing the Neighborhoods of Coventry city center.

Project Location

Coventry (where University is located) Bombed during the war and many neighborhoods and communities destroyed. Its a city of car making, rebuilt after the war. Bicycles as we know them today are built in Coventry. A ring-road was built around the city center, and the city is now walled by it, like it was in the old days. It diverts the traffic and makes people just pass through it. The idea of the project is to heal and change this for Coventry.
It has a river, its actually where two rivers meet. The river has been coveted, a road passing on top and a shopping mall built on top. This causes flooding and is ecologically very harming - the fish lay eggs in the pebbles and roughness of the river, and the canals disturb this eco-system.

Nature of The Project (e.g. building, new community, economic development, etc.)

Transformative Education - Thinking/Being
Three phases:
1. Physiology: Study geology, ecology, how it was before the settlements.
2. Pathology: Find what is not working/ not adding to the life of the place/ blocking energy.
3. Find a way to heal: This is the Design Intervention.

Four dimensions to look at the city/ project:
- Ecology of the place
- Timescale and how the city/place has changed
- Spacial elements present in the city
- Social dimension of the city. Indigenous Wisdom, Matriarcal societies.

Why do you think this project is appropriate for the course assignment?

It is community based. It is place based, life centered. Recognizes Design as a Holistic process. We recognize Potencial in the community and the project. Stakeholders are the change-makers in actions. With changes according to place, these can be great guidelines in different spaces (since we are all from different places).
It's already taking place in Coventry University as a Post Graduate studio for first semester students in Architecture.
