| Working Title of The Project (which we will use to refer to it throughout the series) | A regenerative approach to urban farming. |
| Project Location | Johannesburg, South Africa |
| Nature of The Project (e.g. building, new community, economic development, etc.) | Community development, Regenerative Farming and Food Security |
| Why do you think this project is appropriate for the course assignment? | This project is based in a urban, low socio economic community and it is faced with water/electricity and socio-economic challenges. It highlights the real issues that communities face in times of uncertainty. It is an example of what the Global North will eventually face when climate change becomes a reality. This project has been running for a few years and has received international funding. It has reached a point of scaling to grow it's influence and reach within the community. We are curious to see how this project could evolve and what energy would emerge using a regenerative lens and regenerative frameworks. As a team we are curious to learn from this project to apply in other projects in the Global North, as this project is embedded in a country, culture and community already affected by climate change and economic instability. |
