Working Title of The Project (which we will use to refer to it throughout the series)

“Reshaping Waste with Renewed Purpose for Tomorrow”

Project Location

Zero Hero is based in Colorado, yet the locations of their projects vary. They operate mainly with the Forestry Service in Fire Camps and with event organizers at music festivals and farmers markets.

A member of our team interacted with Zero Hero at a fire camp in the North Cascades in Washington State and that will be a foundation for this project.

This gives the project a “pop up” nature and unique opportunity and perspective.

Nature of The Project (e.g. building, new community, economic development, etc.)

Zero Hero’s approach is to “provide comprehensive waste and recycling operations for events and incidents. Zero Hero delivers on-site cleanliness, waste diversion, increased efficiency, community relationships and sustainability goals.”

We imagine through this project we will be providing a more regenerative approach and the potential for social benefits/justice/development as reinforcement for the community they are ‘saving’.

Why do you think this project is appropriate for the course assignment?

• ZH is open to us ‘dissecting’ what they have already done and are already doing
• They welcome honest and transparent feedback and are looking to integrate our ideas into their model AND use the insights and days in their next report
• They are an established company with established ties in this industry
• The completed project is small enough to tackle as practice during this course. ZH is large enough now that the changes we suggest could make an actual difference in how they operate.
