Nature of The Project (e.g. building, new community, economic development, etc.)

Nobelhof in Oosterwold, open since 2023, is a new communal living project specifically designed to support around 25 young adults with intellectual disabilities. This pioneering residential community provides a supportive and inclusive environment where residents can live semi-independently while receiving the care and support they need. Like other developments in the free-spirited area of Oosterwold, Nobelhof has integrated sustainability into the design of its building.

Why do you think this project is appropriate for the course assignment?

We think that we will be able to collaborate with Nobelhof in a meaningful and value-driven way. We all felt the energy and potential in this project.
Nobelhof sits at the intersection of social and environmental work. The project was initiated by parents who felt the need to create a safe and grown-up place for their kids - a home where they could share responsibilities, engage in activities together, and build strong social bonds within their community and neighborhood. Surrounding the building, you’ll find a large amount of former farmland that needs to keep its original purpose with a sustainable approach.
