Working Title of The Project (which we will use to refer to it throughout the series) | Rio Vista Elementary Food Forest |
Project Location | Rio Vista Elementary School |
Nature of The Project (e.g. building, new community, economic development, etc.) | The Rio Vista Elementary Food Forest is an outdoor learning & ecological farm, serving the community of student families, garden educators, and neighbors, in Bay Point, California, USA. |
Why do you think this project is appropriate for the course assignment? | An Ecological Design Process for re/designing ecosystems has given structure to the project from its inception, with consideration of both Regeneration First Principles, as well as Regenerative Design and Development Principles. Despite a detailed design being completed in 2023, the installation will remain underway for the next several years, and there is potential to not only create a case study but also inform future stages of the project. |
Additional Useful Information | Jorge has been the lead designer for the project, working in collaboration with Growing Healthy Kids Bay Area, as well as school leadership. These partners are available for interview and consultation. |
