1. What do you see as your primary work at this stage of your life? | I feel as if I am going through a transition period and it is unclear what my primary work will be in 3 years. Currently I am still working fulltime as a Civil Engineer managing water related infrastructure, including natural infrastructure such as lakes and rivers. I see my inner life and my spiritual practice as the most important work I engage in at this point in my life. I am working to make the outer work I do in the world a reflection of that. |
2. What role do you see as yours to play? | I have so many roles: Father, Husband, Artist, Engineer, Hydrologist, Friend, ... a man of many hats. If I were to chose a title it would be something like - A creative dreamer who uses his creative power to heal and bring the world to life. |
3. What goals or aims do you have in regard to the above? | I would like to shift my work situation so that I have more free time to develop my art practice and pursue regenerative projects. I have tried developing some projects of my own but have struggled to make them a reality. I am currently working on increasing my capacity build a business that will sustain me and my family without the same level of work required in my current position. My hope would be this would allow me to pursue different kinds of projects that operate on unconventional funding schedules and timelines but will have large scale impacts. |

5. And for professional growth? | Professionally I am establishing myself as an expert in my field and working on building my professional network so that I am not limited by my employer in terms of my ability to accomplish meaningful work. I am also building my understanding of business and financial understanding that I have not been focused on in the early part of my career. |
6. What have you invested in to get you where you are? | I have invested in my professional growth through a Masters program. |
7. What fields of learning and which thinkers have been important in your life? | study of Art, study of Physics, study of civil engineering, study of stable channel design, study of astronomy, various schools of spirituality, chaos theory or dynamic systems theory, permaculture, Magical theory, various theories and techniques of ecosystem restoration, Ralph Abraham, Carol Sanford, Baba Hari Das, Hazrat Inyat Khan, Peter J. Carroll, Terrance Mckenna, |
8. Can you frame your philosophy or cosmology of life? What role(s) do humans play in it? | Consciousness is the basis of all reality. The reality of the human experience is made out of stories. Humans are an aspect of the one consciousness observing itself. We incarnate here (as humans) in order to have this experience as a way of evolving our (one) consciousness. The experience itself is the goal. Other life forms and forms of material reality (like plants, animals, minerals, etc) are also forms that the one consciousness is clothed in as part of this process of experiencing itself but it is not clear to me where this experiencing is occurring (aside from my own experience). It may not be occurring in space and time, and all space time phenomena may be illusions. There are only 2 things that I believe I can know for sure. 1. I am experiencing something - and - 2. I can feel of love. I personally want to pursue a feeling of love, connection, and harmony in my life. For/with other humans but also with non-human aspects of my reality. I see the whole world as being alive, some of which are aligned with me and some are not. |
