Why do you think this project is appropriate for the course assignment?
- schools are part of our lives, they are everywhere and knowing how to approach such a project from regenerative point of view is priceless
- one of us has direct contact with this project and knows its value for community of expats
- project has 3,5 hectares of land, where half is post grazing land that needs reforestation, restoration and/or regeneration
- in a place like south Portugal where in past 2 years we are experiencing huge mass movement of families from around the world its interesting and challenging project to work on
- maybe our findings will help the project become more sustainable ?!
Additional Useful Information
This project exists around 5 years. It transformed and developed from small project into 100 kids school with Cambridge Certificate,
and despite the fact that it's "ongoing" project it is still not sustainable.
I am trying to approach it from regenerative point of you since one year (while working with them) and I am still just at the beginning.
The school is nested in a small Portuguese village, flooded with (rich) expats, where monthly fee for this school (almost) equals monthly salary of local Portuguese person. And this is another reason why I would like to work on this project - to find ways how it could co-exist with it's natural habitat, local community and become part of it and not exist as a "expats bubble".
There are also tensions between the school and the neighbours.
