1. What do you see as your primary work at this stage of your life?

My primary work is determining where I add most value to the world and how I can do this in a way that is energising for me and with balance. I know I want to work on something that helps to reduce the severity of climate change impacts and to date, this has looked like focussing on emissions reduction. But over the last 18 months I keep thinking there are bigger questions to ask, and bigger shifts needed that go beyond emissions reduction.

2. What role do you see as yours to play?

My role is to be my best version of myself and support work to make the world a better place. I see my role as one that supports others but also venturing into new territory and provoking the thoughts of others. However, I'm still understanding what my role should be.

3. What goals or aims do you have in regard to the above?

I want to understand regeneration more deeply so I can integrate that into my work. My aim for this course and learning more about regeneration is that I will gain more of an idea of the next steps I want to take in my career and how I can add more value and make more of a difference doing so. I also want to understand how I do the important work to help the world and also have personal balance and sustainability over the long term rather than a boom and bust burnout cycle.

4. Where do you feel your next arenas for personal growth are?

Personal growth includes practicing being more vulnerable and saying yes to life. I want to get a better relationship with my anxiety and my rollercoasters of emotions. I want to improve my mindfulness practice and be more present and grateful for what I have for my life and live from a place of abundance not limitation. I want to understand how to be the best version of myself emotionally and health-wise.

5. And for professional growth?

Next areas of growth for me are expanding my system thinking capabilities, learning about what kind of leader I want to be, and understanding what offers I have for the world that can sustain me financially.

6. What have you invested in to get you where you are?

I have invested my time and energy exploring how to be a better leader with a leadership coach. I’ve seen therapists for 10+ years to work on myself and read books that encourage me to grow. I’ve done my yoga teacher training as a way to help me have another tool and option for grounding and getting in tune with myself. I’ve invested a lot of my mental and emotional energy to work on myself and encourage myself to break free of my limiting beliefs. I still have a long ways to go, but I never stop trying.

7. What fields of learning and which thinkers have been important in your life?

I find regeneration fields interesting, I enjoy the nimble thinking and approaches of some of the start-up culture (although I don’t like the fixation on money as the outcome). I don’t know about fields but I appreciate alternative communities like burning man or buy nothing groups that challenge us to question how the world works and do things differently. I enjoy philosophy, but I couldn’t tell you a specific person who is particularly inspirational to me.

8. Can you frame your philosophy or cosmology of life? What role(s) do humans play in it?

Humans are life thinking about itself. I think my role as a human is to be curious, learn, be kind to living beings and the earth and ultimately make it a better place.
