1. What do you see as your primary work at this stage of your life?

It's hard to narrow this question down to one role. For money, my work entails being a bodyworker and doula. I am here to listen to those I work with as well as the environment around me. Listening and responding with more questions when working with my clients helps co-cultivate a holistic perspective of a person. When someone comes to me with a concern around a localized pain I don't just massage that area but we look at habits, emotions, history, muscles around the area of complaint, and longterm ways to support the relief.

Most of all, I feel my primary work is to stay open, listen and learn because it does not feel fully aligned with my values and passions.

2. What role do you see as yours to play?

To learn, remember, listen, and communicate. I am to be patient as I learn, unlearn, grieve, and honor the experiences I have lived/been shaped by that make me who I am. As a human on this plant I see my role is to strive to live in accordance with my values--seeking to discover and implement ways of living with the environment around me.

3. What goals or aims do you have in regard to the above?

My longterm goals included co-creating community care practices that nourish the health/wellness (beyond the trendy, colonial, toxic ways of these words) of humans and the planet in a very holistic way. Learning and highlighting the ways we can look to nature/ecology to understand how to better care for ourselves and each other.

I want to have a mobile apothecary filled with medicine made by the community for the community. I seek to only use products that align with my values and budget for the higher cost of quality and transparent production. Further I aim to find ways to make high quality, local, regenerative medicine available to more people (as these can be high costs). I also seek to learn simple ways of communicating what I learn to continue to share it in a digestible way.

4. Where do you feel your next arenas for personal growth are?

Strengthening my relationship to my intuition. So that I can move from that place with more confidence and clarity. Trusting in my questions and not comparing myself to others around me who may seem more equip on paper (as doctors, ecologists, professors, etc.).

5. And for professional growth?

To take more "risk" and actionable steps bridging my healthcare work with the environment--what am I waiting for?
Envision success beyond the capitalistic and constant "growth" and individualistic ways.

Also need to shift away from the idea that I need to do this alone..ask for help even if I don't know what that is yet.

6. What have you invested in to get you where you are?

Time and money to learn skills as well as a lot of personal growth beyond my comfortable boundaries to ensure I stay in alignment with my values and visions for a more equitable world. Relationship building with like-minded community members

7. What fields of learning and which thinkers have been important in your life?

Fields: Centered around lived experiences of people who are Queer, Trans, femme, non-binary, Black, Indigenous, People of the Global Majority -- who have had to live regeneratively because this world has never been built for their success or wellbeing.
Community health care:::herbalism, grief support, full-spectrum doula trainings, bodywork,
Women's and Gender studies, urban farming,
Deep interest but not yet tapped into regenerative agriculture
Poetry and art as other modes of communicating beyond colonized language (English)

Thinkers:
Gloria Anzaldua, Tamara Léa Spira, June Jordan, Audre Lorde, Karen Rose, Chanel Porchia, Haze Rosen, Andrea Gibson, adrienne maree brown, bell hooks, Robin Wall Kimmerer, Josie Rodriguez, and Dori Midnight.

8. Can you frame your philosophy or cosmology of life? What role(s) do humans play in it?

I'm constantly asking myself and other people two questions::
1. "According to who?" (in relation to limiting beliefs, beliefs of what's good/bad or possible/impossible. As a way to highlight our beliefs are made-up and may not be rooted in the same interests as our own values
2."What are the costs of what you do for your convenience?" Mainly originated out of Amazon blowing up. And especially when practicing making medicine--is our medicine really helping us when it's grown by farmers who are paid unfairly, being exposed to extremely toxic chemicals, and so on.

I believe that we humans always have an opportunity to play a role in this world and can engage/collaborate with people in such beautiful ways even when our beliefs are different through curiosity and realizing that we always have a decision. When we realize our place (privilege and marginalization/access points) we can choose what we're able to do--with our money, our voice, and other forms of action.

I believe that we are deeply interconnected with all forms of life and need to come to appreciate and utilize this aspect of ourselves. It is such a gift to be in relationship with and learn from the environment around us. I hope we can see our role in seeing each other, listening to each other and being ok//empowered and inspired by our differences.
